How stable are Jackaroo Solutions?
Jackaroo Solutions began 1992 and has grown into a very stable yet dynamic company providing quality software products, software development and Project Management services.
We've developed a reputation of always placing the client's needs first. We work totally for our clients to achieve their objectives and not simply to line our own pockets, so the customer WILL get what they want. We are a not for profit group as all proceeds from our services less wages and basic running costs are donated to children's charities such as Children's Hospitals etc. Top
Jackaroo isn't exactly what we want. Can it be changed for us?
If you need any enhancements or customisations to Jackaroo that will help you meet your needs more accurately, then let us know. Extra requirements are suggested to all registered users of Jackaroo, and if the majority believe the enhancement will also assist them, we include those changes in the next release. This means you get your enhancement developed done for FREE. If the extra requirements are not considered beneficial by the majority, then that's no problem as we can develop a separate release just for you at very little cost. So far, all extra requirements that we have been requested to add have been developed in Jackaroo for FREE. Top
Can we create our own report from Jackaroo's Data?
Jackaroo's Query reporting view allows you to export the data to another file (such as Microsoft Excel, Word, HTML etc) and create your reports from there.
If you have any application that is ODBC compliant, this can also be used to access Jackaroo's data just ask us how. If you feel your report is a worthwhile addition to Jackaroo's standard reports then we would like to hear from you so we may be able to include it in the next release. Top
What is the maximum number of users of Jackaroo?
As Jackaroo is developed in Microsoft Access there are limitations. We recommend that you don't exceed 25 concurrent users at any one time to ensure Jackaroo keeps performing at its best. This is something that you would need to monitor, for example you could still have say 5 people logged in all the time and 100 employees logging in when they have a fault. In fact the limitation on actual users are we think about 32,000 but obviously not concurrent. We are looking at different technologies in the future development of Jackaroo (see another FAQ on this) but at this stage Microsoft Access enables us to offer Jackaroo for free when taken with a support contract. Do we have to have Microsoft Access on each users machine?
No you don't. In fact you don't have to have Microsoft Access at all. We can provide you with Runtime versions of MS Access to enable you to use Jackaroo on any server or PC. The problem is the Runtime version is over 120meg so we don't include it in the download versions of Jackaroo. Please just ask and we will gladly send you the CD of Jackaroo with Microsoft Access Runtime included. Top
What support is there for Jackaroo?
The support contract with Jackaroo provides you with FULL support. This includes instant 2 way chat by Microsoft Windows Messenger, with very quick turn around using email or phone support. Plus you receive every update/upgrade for FREE which ensures you are always using the latest technologies as soon as we can develop them for you. We are here 7 days a week from 7:30am to 10:30 pm Melbourne Australia time. You can be rest assured that if any client has a problem, we drop everything to resolve whatever issue they are having. Top
Do you offer services like data migration or installation etc?
- Data Migration - We have a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet kit that you can populate by extracting the data like employees, assets etc from your current systems and we import that data directly into Jackaroo for you to get you up and running fast.
- Installation - We can come on site and install Jackaroo into any configuration you wish (Stand Alone or Multi User configurations).
- Training - We offer Jackaroo training at your site or ours, one on one or in groups.
- Other - Project Management or Development (please see our other pages on our web site). If there are any other services that we can assist you with then please, just ask. Top
We are using Jackaroo 2000 and are upgrading to XP. What do we do?
To go from one version to another is very simple. All versions of Jackaroo use the same data file so when you upgrade your version of Microsoft Access all you need to do is:
- Make a backup copy of your data file,
- Uninstall your current Jackaroo version,
- Download and install Jackaroo for your new version of Microsoft Access and
- Simply replace the new data file with your backup copy.
Conversion is not a problem at all, but of course you can always let us know and we will happily guide you through it. Top

What future technologies are planned for Jackaroo?
WWe are aware that as emerging technologies become more robust Jackaroo will need to change to embrace these technologies making Jackaroo an even greater product then it already is today. In line with the rapid changes that occur in the technology industry we have been looking into different strategies including:
- a strong and robust backend database like either Microsoft SQL Server, MSDE or even MySQL to enable unlimited concurrent users
- an internet front end developed using ASP.NET and VB.NET.
There are a lot of possibilities, but we are ALWAYS thinking ahead, looking at different technologies and at the same time ensuring that the client will still get value for money, reliability, performance and functionality.
